Funding Opportunities
Bishop Suheil Dawani has called education the cornerstone to peace.  By bringing children together in an environment of trust and mutual respect, they can grow into leadership roles that can promote understanding and peace.  In fall 2008 AFEDJ’s Board of Trustees voted to emphasize education as a focus for its grantsmanship for the next three years.  Support will be directed toward long-term and capacity-building in the Diocese of Jerusalem.  This emphasis in no way diminishes or precludes donor support for the other valued institutions and allows for emergency response as needed.

We welcome donations for general support, for a specific need such as education or healthcare, or gifts restricted to a specific institution. Just indicate which you prefer.  We work closely with both the Diocese and the individual institutions to understand their needs and provided help where and when it’s needed.

Current opportunites include:

  • Provide a scholarship for a high school student in the West Bank  $1500
  • Supply nursing care at a clinic for a week   $400
  • Send a child to camp for a month  $250
  • Have a brace made for a disabled child    $100
  • Buy books for two students   $100
  • Provide medical supplies for our hospitals  Any amount...

Here are a few examples of funding opportunities currently in our midst.  By giving children the academic skills, critical thinking, exposure to other cultures and beliefs, we prepare them to become open-minded productive citizens.  Diocesan schools emphasize tolerance and cooperation among all students.  Schools welcome those of all faith and cultural backgrounds.
